How to resolve:

Click the "Relaunch Chrome" button in the message bar to relaunch Chrome on the desktop mode.

Please, ensure that your camera is working properly

For example, you can do it by clicking on http://www.testmycam.com/
or by using Skype:

  1. Launch Skype
  2. Log in Skype
  3. Click Tools > Options > Video settings
  4. If the webcamera is connected to the PC and working correctly, you will see the video feed under the «Webcam: webcam_name» text.
  5. If there are problems with the camera, you will see the following information:
    «Skype couldn’t find a webcam»:

Make sure the camera is not used by any other applications or tests

Symptoms:

On the http://highernext.com/system page, the ‘Java Update Needed’ popup appears.

As a result, the video image of the webcamera doesn’t appear in the bottom right corner of the screen and the user is unable to continue the testing.

How to resolve:

The 1st method (recommended):

  1. Click the ‘Update (recommended)’ option in the ‘Java Update Needed’ popup.
  2. Download and install the latest recommended java version.

    Note: When your Java installation is completed, you may need to restart your browser (close all browser windows and re-open) to enable the Java installation.

  3. After the install is completed, retake the test.

The 2nd method :

  1. Click “Later” option in the ‘Java Update Needed’ popup.
  2. Continue the testing.

    Note: Maybe you’ll need to click “Later” option 2 more times during the testing, specifically on the “Initializing camera” steps.

Symptoms:

The Java 6+ is installed and enabled in the browser, but the “Java (TM) was blocked because it is out of date” message appears from the browser:

How to resolve:

The 1st method (recommended):

  1. Reinstall Java on your PC:

    Uninstall all Java versions, including the Java Development Kit and Java FX (if they are there)
  2. Download and install the latest Java.
  3. Retake the test.

    Note: When your Java installation is completed, you may need to restart your browser (close all browser windows and re-open) to enable the Java installation.

The 2nd method :

Click the “Run this time” button on the browser message every time the browser proposes it. (2 or 3 times during the test)


An additional activating of Java is required in the 18.0.1+

Symptoms:

The Java 6+ (or 7+) is installed and enabled in the browser, but on the "Some plugins were deactivated for your safety. Java Platform SE7 U" message is displayed by the browser:

As a result, the video image of the webcamera doesn’t appear in the bottom right corner of the screen and the user is unable to continue the testing.

How to resolve:

The 1st method (recommended):

  1. Click the “Activate All Plugins” dropdown
  2. Select the “Always activate plugins for this site” option
  3. Refresh the page

The 2nd method :

Click the “Activate” button every time the browser proposes it.
(2 or 3 times during the test)


Java perceived as missing in FireFox

Symptoms:

The Java 6+ is installed and enabled in the browser, but the "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" message appears from the browser. By clicking “Install Missing Plugins” button, the user is advised to install Java, but it doesn't help.
